The "FOS (Fast Optical Shutter) Series" is a series of liquid crystal-based optical shutters that control light transmittance through an externally applied drive voltage. Compared to conventional mechanical shutters, liquid crystal shutters have no moving parts, which eliminates operational vibrations and allows for a smaller installation footprint. The structure consists of liquid crystal cells sandwiched between crossed linear polarizers, enabling control of light transmittance and functioning as a shutter.
